Rangefinder App Integration

onX Hunt’s Rangefinder Integration allows you to quickly and accurately mark exact locations from your rangefinder and send them directly to the Hunt App.

Hunting Rangefinder:
Create Waypoints Remotely

When you’re in the field, precision and speed matter. Rangefinder Integration automatically drops a Waypoint in the Hunt App when you range something with your handheld rangefinder, whether that’s a promising glassing point or where a buck or bull was standing when you took the shot.

Rangefinder Integration Breakdown

Is Your Target Animal on Public Land?

Make things easier on yourself when hunting near public/private boundaries. Range an animal at distance, then check your newly created Waypoint to see if you can make a move.

Simplify Stalking and Recovery

Put your rangefinder Waypoints to work before and after the shot. Mark the last place you saw an animal before you start your stalk, and where you saw it go down after the shot. Make complex topography easier to navigate and understand.

I am super excited about onX Hunt’s new Rangefinder Integration capability. I can think of numerous times on past hunts where I wished I could quickly and accurately mark the exact location I was looking at. Now, all I have to do is pull out my SIG Rangefinder, mark that location, and save it right to the Hunt App.

What is a rangefinder?

A rangefinder is a handheld device that measures the distance between you and an object. A primary use case for a hunting rangefinder is to measure the distance between you and your target so you can adjust your bow’s sight pins or dial your rifle scope to align with a given shot distance.

How to use a rangefinder:

Rangefinders come in various designs, but generally, you place your rangefinder’s crosshairs on your target and press a button. The rangefinder then gives you the exact distance between you and the target, typically in yards.

With onX Hunt’s Rangefinder Integration, you use the relevant rangefinders’ app to initiate creating a new Waypoint:

  • For Leupold, open their app, tap “Pin Next,” range your target, tap “Send Pin,” and view your new Waypoint in the Hunt App.
  • For SIG, open their app, tap “Rangefinders,” range your target, tap “Send to onX Hunt,” and view your new Waypoint in the Hunt App.
How do rangefinders work?

Most rangefinders measure distances using a laser that reflects off the object you’re targeting. Handheld rangefinders generally calculate distances by measuring how long it takes the laser beam to hit the target and bounce back to the device. The onX Hunt Rangefinder Integration leverages Bluetooth rangefinder functionality to sync with your handheld rangefinder and automatically load new Waypoints into the Hunt App.
